The announcement was made in a press conference attended by H.E Shaikh Khalifah Bin Abdulla Al Khalifah, Bahrain Water Sports Federation President, Gordon Sutherland, UIM Race director & Commissioner, and Ahmad Ibrahim, head of the Powerboat Committee in the UAE Marine Sports Federation and representatives of Bahraini Government Departments. Mr. Fairooz said: “We are glad to announce that the race is ready to take off on October 15-16th. This international event which is held in the Bahrain Amwaj Islands is logistically ready, the racers have arrived and the competitive spirit between the teams is rising. I expect the Bahrain GP will be a success and a step forward for the Port Ghalib GP that will take place in Nov. 5th & 6th in Port Ghalib- Egypt." Mr. Fairooz briefed the government departments on the preparations and the location map for the in pit area. He also explained the schedule of the two day race and briefed the attendees about the racers and the technicalities of the race. Mr. Fairooz also expressed his gratitude to the government of Kingdom of Bahrain headed by H.H Shaikh Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain and H.H Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince for his direct support and directives to provide all the facilities needed to achieve international accomplishments. Mr. Fairooz also extended his thanks to H.E Khalifa bin Doaaj Al Khalifa, Head of the Diwan of H.H the Crown Prince, for his on-going support and follow up on the status of the international event, “We are also delighted with the sponsors on board for this event including GGICO, Gulf Air, and Amwaj Islands.
